Now I realize that this question is going to motivate a lot of SEC or Big 10 fans to bring out their best LA and LSU jokes BUT can anyone seriously explain why LA residents are charged so much more for Alabama non resident fishing licenses than other non residents are?
You cant discriminate based on race, religion or national origin but I guess you can based on state origin? ( no LA is not another planet)

I guess the first question would be , how much does your state charge for an Alabama resident? A lot of the time that is why there is a price difference. I think a Florida resident pays more for an Alabama license than I do. I live in Ky. That’s just my experience, and what I’ve been told. Hope this helps!
Why?
Because years back LA saw dollar signs from of all the NR fishing license sales and jacked up their non-resident prices.
In one year they went from like $15/year for NR to $90/year.
Soon after all the Gulf States started going to reciprocal pricing for non-resident licenses.
So now we charge whatever the other state charges for a NR license.
Florida NR actually pay less for an AL NR License than the base fee since.
It was over 15 years ago that someone told me about fla vs bama licensing.
good info. I checked and the fees are essentially the same unless Alabama also requires you to have a basic fishing license in addition to a saltwater license.
