I like the piers there....and yes a few are very rude....but also some real nice people too(more then the rude ones)....some real good fishing and a choice of 2 different piers now....haven't been since the rebuild due to Gulf Shores opening up....I would stay at PC before the trip to Okaloosa..... just saying
I fished the Dan Russel as the other wasn't really there....real short barely got out in the water....now they are 1500ft....read up on some of it here....robertyb is a great guy from Georgia and Carol and Mike too...beware they leave rods on the rail saving there spot for long periods of time....especially in the southeast and west corners

Carol in the south west corner....from our birds eye view

Thanks. Is the PC way of working a king similar to GSPP? Folks move to let you down the rail?
Oh yea they will give you room to get by with the fish, and some will help get it on the deck....but others won't bother....that is where I needed the one, I will wear on my side....no one would help gaff it, even when I asked nicely....so....a tourist helped with my gaff....then gaffed my own....once i did that.... they started to help....it isn't like gulf shores in that aspect....some are all for themselves
no....they stay in there spot....and use there rods to save it....they do snoble a bait....but don't follow it...no ribbon rigs allow in Florida but plenty of nice live cigs on usually plain gold hooks....great cobia fishing in the spring...if i was going to target them that's where I would be going.....they kinda have the first crack at them....the ones that migrate along the shoreline ....like anywhere just watch and fit in....If I can do it ....so can you....and show off the gaff you have....some wondered why soooooo long of a shank :poke1:
Get on panhandle forum ,there are some good guys and a few not so much but i love fishing down there
Thanks.
Get a kayak. There is some amazing kayak fishing there in the spring and fall. The piers arent all that bad, and you will fall in love with the water clarity.
one more thing....NO midway restrooms when I was there last....not sure of now...I thought they might have went to a portable, but not sure....so plan for that....I have too
stock up on tackle too....there isn't a J&M tackle over there ....J&M spoils us :headbang:

Living in an apartment for about a year. Won't have storage for one. If the water is that clear I might have to dig my dive gear out. Been 3 years and that's WAY too long to stay dry. :(
you might be able to rent a yak at sunjammers up from the pier....probably the closets place for some bait too

this is one I found to be very rude....maybe just me.... :boohoo:

You also have 2.33 piers to choose from, including the city, county, and st. andrews piers. I found the St. Andrews SP pier was satisfactory when I had a family that wanted beach time concurrent with fishing, but it really isn't really in the league with the big two.
:headbang: Found a townhouse to rent - has a one car garage and a fenced backyard. Place to store all my gear including cart. :yay:

I have fished a bit with Michael and you just got to get to know him.I have spent quite a few hours in a cobia tower with him pre-fishing a tournament. He really is a great guy and one hell of a cobia fisherman. Just for future reference before we go posting pictures of people try asking others their opinions of those people. Some people may think I am a asshole, but many who have fished with me will know I am a nice guy who has a passion for fishing.
well Jeb..... I sure don't need verbally abused by anyone, on multiple occasions(a few years back) just because he didn't know me (or what ever reason) his picture is on the open net....and he is ONE that stuck in my mind still today, to keep my distance.....don't really care how good a fisherman he is either
and as said...... just maybe me
this is from personal experience....I try and not have an opinion from other peoples...... till I find out myself
if a mod thinks it is not appropriate..... please delete
Preference for city or county?
not real sure, the one wasn't there when I was....but we stayed in the Calyso condos right next door (Dan Russel)and I walked to the pier, was able to have a good lunch and keep an eye on the action from the balcony....I think one pass allows you to fish both....but not real sure about that....pretty sure the yearly pass will....and who knows..... you might see me there this spring, for the cobia fishing....I think the best piers for that spring run.....that fish is still on my bucket list and those piers would give me the best chance for the catch....I had plenty there.... just choked :boohoo: ....
and not getting offshore anymore with those guys..... well that end of the Pan Handle just may not be in the spring plans, and the wife didn't care for the quietness and lack of sea shells in Perdidio Key :boohoo:
Yea. Speaking of passes. You listening GSSP?
Annual
$90.00
4X more at GSSP???? Really?
Im not sure which is which, but I the one furthest to the East is the one to go too. The other one looks to be like a tourist destination.
they both are Bubba....just depends on the time of the year and proximity..... I would be on both, just depends where Mr. Robert is fishing or Mrs. Ana ....I think they prefer the Russel fields but not sure....maybe time I get back down to that end of the gulf and see my cousin in St. Andrews ...been a couple of years and should stop and say Hi and visit ......while I can :boohoo:
Hey, Bill ,what month is the best to get in on the cobia ????
Thanks
^^^ Feb/March/April
april....spring break for us.....grand kid duty....it starts the end of march....and does go into may some....but mid april should be peak....all depends on the water temp....but every year recently seems to be less and less being caught from what I read....and for me so far..... none existent....all though I don't stand and wait like some that's why I have missed chances....can never get to the rod fast enough and they go back down in the past.....Oh well there's always next time....would like to get a yak my next trip down and play off the beach some away from the crowds.... that I really don't mind at all..... always some good folks to talk to on the rail :headbang:
