Tristan caught a summer's worth of kings on a penn pursuit II of at PC last year. He was using a 4000 if I remember correctly. The 4000 is a bit small for kings in my opinion but it obviously will do the job. I've used a penn pursuit II 6000 for a few years now in fresh and saltwater. It's caught a lot of stripers, some rays, whiting, spanish, some big gar, a spoonbill or two in the 50-70 lb class (accidentally) and more. Still works like new.

The rod matters more than the reel and penn reels have good drag.
I dont want to go out there and have a huge setup just to catch speks. I have a separate reel for kings. The pursuit 5000 was too much for trout. found a matching ugly stik rod. I wanted to spool braid but ill just do a braid leader.

Not sure of your budget, Wally World , online, has Spinfisher 4500 for $100.00 or 5500 for $125.00.
