I'd say the 6500 because that size leaves three options. i) Regular spinning reel ii)LiveLiner equipped (well worth the extra $ and good newbie choice) and iii) Bail-less.
If u want to cobia fish id go with the 7500 and u can king fish with it.
Another newbie here and I've narrowed my reel down to the Spinfisher V. I'm trying to get the most versatile size for primarily surf fishing and maybe some pier fishing. I'd like to be able to utilize my rod/reel year round whenever we are vacationing in Gulf Shores, Destin or Panama City beach areas. My first trip is the last week in October and I suppose I will be targeting Pompano, Whiting, Flounder, Bluefish, Ladyfish, Spanish mackerel and Redfish this time of year. My thinking is the SSV6500LL with a 10 foot rod, perhaps the Dawia Emcast or Penn Prevail in a MH.
Please let me know your thoughts. Am I way off, pretty close or dead on? I'm open to any and all alternatives.

Just to be different and join in -- the Cabella's salt striker reels are awesome for the money, especially if you can pick one up on sale. The 50 or 55 class reel will hold 390 yards or so of 12# test line, and I've caught a bunch of kings on it. Occasionally one will break off, and if you need to horse it in you will be in trouble. But hey, it will hold 290 yards of 15# test...lots of options there. Great drag, durable, lets you fish a bubble for spanish or float an LY.....
Spend the money you save on the reel to go on the rod, and you can get one of the MH 7'6" TFO spinning rods from Bass Pro. $109. It's a little on the light side for kings, but they haven't been around in great numbers anyway and if you do happen to hook up, you have a good chance..........of enjoying the fight until a shark eats it. That's $0.02 worth.
Penn Fierce or Penn Battle has many sizes and has a good reputation for being resistant to salt water wave wash.
