What is going on with the pier cam? It has been looking down for the last several weeks.
For those of us who can't be on the pier frequently, it is a pleasant diversion.
Who actually "owns" or pays for the camera?

The camera is privately owned and we have no control over it. The owner asked us to share the camera link. I just sent him another email about the camera problems!

We have had numerous questions from our forum members as to repairs to the web cam on the pier.
It will only pan and is pointing down at the pilings under the pier. the zoom has never worked.
What should tell our members about the needed repairs?
Thanks for your help,
Bob Miller, aka FinChaser
Thank you Fin. Also, please express our (I feel safe in speaking for others here) appreciation for the pier cam. During that period of time that we were without one, I really missed it. I'd love to have a better cam and maybe even additional cams but anything is better than nothing!
Thanks for the information. I was wondering if it was a private operation or if the State was in charge of it.
Hopefully, they will be able to fix it.
Finchaser: Thanks for looking into the piercam issue. Those of us who live far away really appreciate at least getting to see what we are missing. Thanks again ... Philip Sommers
Here is the latest from the camera owner:
I suspect the "complaints" he mentioned would be about the pervs zooming in on 'kinis.Quote:
Bob,
I see what you mean about the cam not rising up higher. We replaced the cam several weeks ago. Most of the zoom capabilities where disabled due to some complaints. We can try to find a happy medium. I had forgotten about that.
If I have a cam, we will see about replacing it again if needed to repair the limited upward view. If I do not have one, it will probably have to wait for a while as they are about $1200 a piece.
We'll see, I hope!
I seem to remember that the zoom capability was not available when the camera was installed (or I first found out about it).
The perv factor could be reduced if he can limit the panning of the camera to just the pier and not to the beach area; just a thought. Then, they would only have to worry about the displays on the pier!:p
Tommy has a Facebook page and I'm pretty sure that there's an address for him if you do a "whois" search. (in case you haven't gotten any kind of a response from him. He may not have seen your email.)
Not a communication issue:

They say that a guy's eyesight is the second thing to go. I don't know how I missed your previous response. Thanks for that. I'm hoping that he'll restore/fix the camera so that the pier camera shows - the pier.
