Pretty much everything that swims will eat a spoon plus they have a little weight so you can get then out there and cover a lot of water, Yozuri, looney jigs, and bubble rigs with green tubes are a few of the things I like to keep around that work well for me.

Get you some gotchas, looney jigs, buck tails, yozuri's, Johnson sprites (and other Clark spoon types). Just start slinging the under the pier, around pilings, and all out from pier you will catch many types. If the Spanish get hot spoons and gotchas work well and can be fun. There are many type of arts out there, some of the more expert pier residents can probably more specific.
If you haven't don't a quick search try that, I believe I actually posed this question several weeks back and got some good info.

For Bull Reds when they come in a big school I think you could catch one on a flip flop or kitchen sink.

Are lures better than live bait for the big fish?

it all depends on there mood, sometimes they will eat NOTHING but a live LY, sometimes they wont eat anything but lures. Best to be prepared for both.
I figure it this way, if everyone in the world had a lie clock, whose hands moved once every time they lied. You could use any politicians lie clock as a ceiling fan.
So since we had that rain about a week ago, the little anchovies are around my dock in the east end of Little Lagoon. #'r did the rain cause that or just a coincidence? Also, my grandson has caught...
