When I was down last week 2 of the pier employees told me the pier was going to be shut down January 1st until April 1st. They said the decking boards would be replaced and they were building an observation deck over the Octi with an elevator. I didn't know if this was the real deal or they were messing with me a little.
I heard from Jan 15th till March 30th but about the same thing.
January through March. Sad flocks of snowbirds will need another spot.
My pass runs out this month and I'm wondering if they will extend it for the time missed if I go ahead and renew. At the same time I wonder if they are going to "sock it to us" on passes after the work.
What to do?
The last i saw it was to be closed starting january 15. I was hoping to put together an early january trip for sheepshead and maybe whiting and pomps... A January 1 closure is going to mess with my plans.Quote:

That's what I was wondering since they did the rewire of the lighting just closed one side. Guess some idiot would cross over and go over where they had the rail out. I don't see how they are going to be able to replace all the wood in 3 months. Took a contractor a week to replace just front rail when the storm took it out.
I was thinking the decking is all in blocks so they can pull it when storms come why cant they build most of the blocks on shore before they close it then they would only half to place the ones that are cut on angles when they close it and the rails too ???
I think that would be a great idea. Maybe just have to trim the ends for a snug fit.
Is the observation deck gonna serve as a Cobia scouting deck too?? Lol
