Will be vacationing on the Little Lagoon in about a week. I heard that it's infested with pin fish and if I use live shrimp the pin fish would just steal them.
What if I catch and use pin fish as bait - will that catch anything? Flounders? I guess I want to use the smaller pin fish rather than the large one.
And what about using FishBites in the Lagoon? Hopefully won't lose as much bait.
I'd appreciate any tips!

Pin fish wouldn't be my go to bait for Flounder. They are great baits offshore though. I've caught Specs with pin fish but again, it wouldn't be my go to bait. As far as the fish bites, I have no clue. Haven't ever tried them. If the pin fish are that bad, try using artificials.
I use strips of fish bites to tip my flounder jigs with good success. Color and flavor depend on water color and what I am after. Give them a try.
I have never caught a flounder on little pinfish. Finger mullet are hands down the best live bait for flounder, IMO.
Pin fish make great flounder bait... As long as they're smallll
I caught a flounder on Dauphin Island Pier that was just over 8 pounds on a Pinfish as big as my hand years ago fishing for Redfish. So yes they will eat them.

Where is a good place to net or trap finger mullet from shore?
I usually throw the cast net on the boat ramps on the Causeway. And I mean ON the ramps. At dusk or first thing in the morning before boats start showing up. They school up an pick the algae off the ramps.
Any boat ramp should do, just dont get in the way. The Pier Street ramp in fairhope is good, so is the ramp under the 59 bridge in GS. The dirt ramp at Heron Bay Cutoff usually has tons of bait around.
