Try dropping a brake drum on paracord and use it as a trolley rig :)
I am thinking about coming out tomorrow and fish there with my 19 year old. We have been fishing out of yaks for a couple of days and I could use a break from that. We have a couple of 7" rods with 20 lb. braid on them that should be ok for that type of fishing. What bait should we bring? Fiddlers or shrimp or both. My son would be very happy catching anything at this point. We have caught a few specks and I landed my first redfish around 9 pm last night. He pulled me into the lit dock i had tossed a shrimp into. Daniel caught a couple of catfish on a popper rig last night. We ar both tired of fighting the wind and would welcome a change and help from the guys that do this on a regularly. My wife went out there today and showed me pictures of the fish that were caught today. We both want to catch some of these giant bluegills with the funny teeth.
Rods and braid are fine.
#10 or #8 treble, x3-x4 strength, or #2 or #4 kahle hooks.
12# floro for leader, about a foot long.
I use a larger barrel swivel, and a bead and an egg sinker from 1-3oz.
Live bait is a must, shrimp is usually good to go, but sometimes they love Fiddlers.
Definitely bring both if you can. Fiddlers two to a hook hides the hook better, hook shrimps under their horn.
