Pompano Jigs

Maybe I'm the exception but I seem to catch them just fine on imported quick frozen that are headless, tail on, peeled and devained. I get the large size and make 4 pcs of bait per shrimp. I saw an older gentleman catching them on a pink and white Doc's Goofy jig with a pink teaser today and yesterday. He would throw it out, let it sink to the bottom and whip the rod tip up and let the jig settle to the bottom and repeat. He and another guy outfished everyone who were using cut shrimp.

That might have been Otis. He was decking some a week ago on that rig.

I think his name was Robi.

that mold might work good here too, so maybe time to add one to the arsenal for both places....that is all a friend wants to do is jig fish, when all I want to do is troll....I guess could do both once we find there hang out trolling....hang over top and use the jigs to slay a few

Are these jigs available locally? Their website only shows dealers in Florida.

I literally just ordered some from Native Tackle.com. Prices aren't bad and shipping is cheap. Wasn't sure about ounces, but I got two 1/8oz packs and two 1/4 oz packs.

Oh, and according to the website closest local retailer is Dizzy Lizzys in Pcola on Cervantes.

for me, I still have a bunch of lead that needs used and 3/8 would be the least I would use down there(but can't find any molds bigger yet...1/2, 3/4, 1oz)....now the 1/8 -1/4 would do good for crappie in the lakes with no current here
There is a gentlemen from Mobile, that makes some lead jigs that drags them on the bottom slowly and does real well for the pomps...I think they are 1oz and on the flat side

Swimming jigs are a walleye jig style that is not hard to find, but the harder thing to find are the teaser tails to add. Of course if you tie even a little, that's not a problem.
