So if I'm lucky enough to find and gather a few ghost shrimp will they stay alive in a bait bucket like regular shrimp? How about freezing them? Any other way to preserve them?

Some guys have expressed to me they stay alive in a bucket for several days.
But they are fragile in my my experience with about a 50% mortality per day mainly from fouling the water with their excrement.
They freeze fairly well when put in a ziplock bag with seawater.

The saltier the better and definitely don't use tap water which makes them even 'mushier' when thawed.
Anyone ever tried vacuum sealing them?
