The proposed new regs have a slot limit on trout (specs) 15-22" with one over slot fish allowed, 6 total. Flounder going up to 14"TL minimum, cant remember if the daily limit is reduced under the proposed change.

I feel everyone who inshore fishes, or even from the pier or from shore should realize there is another facet of the new regulatory changes forthcoming, and that is the 'Gulf Reef Endorsement' that will affect them.
This $10 fee was proposed to get a better count of Alabama's participants in the gulf reef fishery.
What you may not know is that the species includes mangrove snapper. Even those caught from the pier or seawall, or even inshore bycatch when fishing for speckled trout.
Any anglers wishing to continue to retain these (legal sized) mangroves must pay for a $10 stamp, thus being counted as a "reef fishing" participant.
Otherwise you will be totally disenfranchised from this reef fishery!
Many of us believe that is an unjust burden (and tax) on shore bound fishermen (resident and non-residents) just to inflate the number of fishermen who can be counted as "reef fishers".
The time may well have arrived for the shorebound anglers of Alabama to stand up and be counted on their own!
Here in N.C. , they are in the process of totally closing Flounder, both commercial and recreational.
