Are these still s bait of choice for pompanos?

If you can find them fresh in the sand. Frozen never did much for me. I have caught just as many pompano on fresh dead and salted shrimp as on sand fleas. I also have good luck adding a small piece of orange colored Fishbites to the hook with shrimp.
P.S. I have had good luck adding strips of Fishbites to trout and flounder jigs also.
