Hey guys. I'm new to the forum. I will be down on family vacation next week and was one of the 10 to get a permit for the 26th. Looking forward to hearing how it goes tonight and welcome any helpful advice for planning my fishing trip next week. All the pier rules apply and I have already confirmed that means I will be limited to a 4000 series reel. I know they love Spanish and King Mackerel. Really concerned about a release pole. I've never seen one in use on the pier, and wonder why the Department of Fish and Game would not be providing that tool since they will be making the call if it a legal fish and if it can be landed.

That's limited to a 4/0 reel which is a conventional reel like one might use for trolling or bottom fishing. I don't think there is any class of spinning reel that would not be allowed.
PENN US Senator 4/0People are shocked to see sharks in the water around here.
If you see natural water taste it. If it's salty it has sharks in it. If it's fresh it has alligators in it. If it's brackish it has both.

I'm guessing there will also be a record set tonight for the number of users on the forum. Current record is 200.

As weary as everyone is of 'shark mania', let's just focus on the topic.
Any consequent overt political posts will be removed and the poster placed in 'time out' for a week!
