It sounds to me, and having never been to the GS area, but plan to spend the Winter there this year, like it is a good deal. Based on your reports of the problems that you that you having landing "good" fish maybe this accident should happen quite often.

The inconsistencies in the shark kill report are astounding.
The video clearly shows it wasn't just sharks (I saw hardheads, a skipjack and pogies also).
Then the "professional" from the DISL just seems to brush it off as a netting 'accident'.
Were the fish examined or tested? was the water tested?
Did anyone in authority interview netters who may have been in the area at the time?

Then the studio host dismisses the whole incident saying in effect "the crabs and birds will eat the carcasses by the weekend, and everything will be normal, no cause for alarm, nothing to see here, move along..."

Yet, we've been recently hearing how dead fish carcasses on the beach contain levels of 'flesh-eating bacteria' at up to 1000 times the level of surrounding seawater and 100 times more than beach sand.

Seems they were investigating the wrong story fer sure!

A shark fish-kill should be closely examined for cause. It's not something to overlook as incidental. It might not be! As for people not being able to catch and keep a small shark from the pier, it's beyond ridiculous! There should simply be a size limit restriction. A small shark is no danger to a sightseeing tourist on the pier. For the record, I've never been bitten by a shark, but I've had a gash or two from bluefish and mackerel!
