Surfing at Okaloosa

Ahem.... Surf fishing that is. Went in on one of those month splits so will be spending the fall at Okaloosa instead of Gulf Shores (cue crying and wailing now). Anyway, my attitude turned around when I remembered they had a pier, but I'd like to spend about half my time surf fishing (still learning). Does anyone know if there are secluded spots for surf fishing. Are the condos as stacked in as the are in Orange beach (main reason I fished the jetty and the pier back in the spring). Any advice or experience welcome.

There is beach access east of condo row but I can't speak to the distance to quasi-privacy. There is Henderson Beach state park if you go far enough, but I only fished the pier at Okaloosa.

Was able to get the name of the condo. It's about 4 away from the end of the condos on the west end. Looking at the map, I'm thinking I can walk out far enough to get away. Now I just have to figure out how to haul it all out without a cart......

Back towards Destin there are jetties you can fish at the pass. It's a pretty decent hike but maybe worth checking out.

There used to be pictures of #'r using a plastic toboggan as a sand sled/drag. Who needs wheels?

I actually have an otter sled I use for trapping beavers and otters out of neighbors ponds and creeks, but would be difficult to drag out of the room, across the asphault... before getting it on the sand...

But as it turns out, I have convinced my wife that I need a cart, so I was able to order a foldable cart from Dicks sporting goods/field and stream shop. Should be here later this week. Will post about it when I get it put together.

The nice part about an otter sled is that it would float behind if you wanted to wade (waves permitting). Just get a long (25') stringer so if a bull shark wants your catch you can donate from a distance.
