Is there anyone doing any good today at the pier?

Woke up today at 4AM,...heard the wind blowing HARD through the scaffolding (we’re in the plantation and the whole building is scaffolded for roof/siding repairs)
Checked the weather and it said gusts of 28 MPH,...with wind chill of 40.

I rolled back over.

Just got down here last night and I saw where yesterday was a glorious day with lots of fish. And y’all can thank me for the turn of the weather,...it always seems to happen when I get here,..and the previous day(s) were great. Yea,...I’m whining,...but I wanted to know if there was much fishing going on today and/or tomorrow. I remember a few years ago when I bailed on going due to high waves, and it turned out to be a freak Triple Tail chew down with 20+ caught. Again,...just my luck, haha.

You never know if you never go.

The fish don't care about wind.
Fact is that wind can make the fishing even better while at the same time making it harder to fish.
I can't count how many times a 4 oz egg barely did the job while fishing Sheepshead this time of the year.
A nice East wind like this would normally have people looking for the Kings.
As for that cold wind... Gotta dress for success.

Yea, you’re surely right Chilli,..,..But I used the morning to go to the rod room and get some needed repairs made.
And it turns out to be a fairly nice day after all.
I’m getting ready now to hit the surf outside the condo. With this wind I should be able to cast a mile haha.
I’m gonna hit the pier tomorrow AM regardless.

High tide today is around 2pm. So it should start running soon.
Gonna have baits out in about 15 minutes......

Don't fixate on casting far, if you've a nice cut or deep gut or hole right in front of you.
Things can get pretty exciting 20 yards in front of ya.

I did the same and learned the hard way..... didn't go due to wind and surf..... sucks reading about it later that night about the king chew down with over a 100 caught.... swore I'd never not go again..... then a few days later got into the 190+ chew down ..... never let wind or surf keep me off the pier again, now brown water and sail cat catching , I'll head east for hopefully cleaner water ..... but still fishing

Yeah man I like to get out there on a strong northwest The wind doesn’t really matter on the north Gulf coast

I did ok today with the surf. Got enough whiting for dinner and some extras.
Yes, yes, I know all about the casting distance info,...(I’ve been doing this surf fishing thing for,... a while.)
As usual, I put different rods at different distances.
Today it was across the first bar that was the ticket.
But still didn’t get that first of the season pompano that I was hoping for.

I get down here a lot so it’s no big deal for me to miss a pier day but was just really bummed that the weather in the early morning outside my window today was in a word,..brutal. The surf wind was also a challenge with the sand whipping up into sand devils at times. Gusts. And more gusts.

But all in all a good day.
Tomorrow I’m pier bound. Some of my fiddlers have died, as well as my shrimp. But they’re now “fresh dead” haha.

Just checked daily fishing reports and no posts for today.
Still wondering if it was a productive day at the pier.
No biggie,...just curious.
