Just picked up a small boat and trailor for crappie fishing and the brake lights on the trailor dont work. Turn signals do. I looked at the connections and they look good, no wire breaks or anything. Last thing I can think of is replacing the bulbs. Anyone else has a suggestion?
Ha! I have a problem similar, except my lights/brake lights work but not the turn signals.
Tried everything I know to do without spending money. Guess it might be time
Replace the bulbs and try that, Ill give you a tip that we do on ours. After you get them fixed, invest in a product called liquid tape. Costs like 4 bucks and it will save you from having to constantly work on trailer lights. Worth a million bucks.
I found this: , if your tow vehicle uses what we call a separate lighting system, in which the turn signals and brake lights are on separate circuits, then a tail light converter will be needed in order to get the trailer lights to work correctly. If your tow vehicle has amber colored turn signal bulbs at the rear, you have a combined wiring system. A tail light converter combines separate turn signal and brake light signals into a single circuit, just like the trailer uses.

Check your fuses, I have an 08 Silverado and not all my towing lights are on the same circuit. One was under the dash and the other was under the hood.
Take your ground or light off if it grounds thru light mounts , clean any rust away with sandpaper. Most light problems are ground related when you cant see anything else
my explorer has a separate fuse for the tow lights(running lights) all will be fine on the car but the trailer lights blew the separate fuse ....figured it out years ago and now have extra's if it happens again....best thing is get a volt meter and check the 12v power at the vehicles connector ....and that will also let you know what color wire does what
if all is good there, move on back to the trailer lights...
