Re: van stall
The reason you haven't gotten an answer is simple -- You can't compare the two. The only thing they have in common is that they are both fishing reels. You might as well try to compare a new Ferrari and a '67 Vette. Yea, they're both cars. They're both pretty cool and they'll both get you down the road. But that's pretty much where the comparison ends. :poke1:

Re: van stall
I don't know the comparison between the 2 because I've never owned a 706. But out of all the reels I own the vs has the worst drag. From free spool to a locked drag in like a quarter turn(maybe a bit of exaggeration but its not far) The Zeebaas has a smoother drag but it doesn't feel as solid IMO, the accurate sr series are nice but heavy for their low line capacity. The Stella sw and the dogfight wins hands down as a spinning reel but I'm afraid to dunk them in water.

Re: van stall
see thats why I like 706s, easy to disasemble, you can dunk them (I recomend alot of grease like they do on the East coast surf fishing if your gunna do it alot) , large line cap, gold spools if they have HT100 washers in them have good drag, really smooth drag if kept up right, the old spinnfisher reels are really simple and durable, my bud Mike Ross took the side plate off a 710 and stared messing with it with a big red on the other end when the handle locked up! (p.s. the reason it locked up is that he put in a 704/706 handle washer instead of a 710/712 handle washer)

Not all vs have bad drags ;) both of mine are great and can be set to a very light setting if wanted.. And I can't fish 706s anymore.. I enjoy putting too much heat on fish, and tend to break them left and right lol

If VS's sounded as obnoxious as an old ragged out 706,had a roller to play with when board, and felt sloppy due to a prehistoric anti reverse system,I'd start using one.
