Coming down for a few days and will be mainly surf fishing along Fort Morgan peninsula, about 2/3 way down. Don't usually come down this time of year so was wondering if any patterns/times have changed over, say, August. Was down in August and was most productive on the usual suspects in the surf in the mid-mornings (8-10) and late afternoon.
Is the water temperature much different than August right now? Does it matter?
The water is about 10 degrees cooler now and subject to drop about 5 more degrees by the end of Oct.
The patterns are the same (fish points and bar cuts) but the miscellaneous jack species that worried you in the summer should be gone soon!
Best surf times for me are early and late in the day on a moving tide.

Generally speaking, I'd say the fishing/catching should be considerably better in October versus August. IMO, shore based fishing is way productive during the cooler months. I guess it's all what you're targeting too. Good luck and hope ya catch em!
True words! I personally prefer late fall/winter surf fishing. The beaches are much less crowded, no June grass-which was really more like September grass this year, and seasonal migrations of fish to their wintering grounds makes for exciting times on the sand.
