Weight of a bubble rig
I'm going to buy another rod, MH for casting bubbles and the last time I was down there I had one on a medium rod and it just seemed a little too weak, the MH on the other one I had seemed good. I was just wondering what the weight was on a 3/4 filled bubble was. I would just weigh it but all my stuff is in my storage unit down in G.S. I'm guessing close to 2 OZ but not sure. Thanks

About 1/4 to 1/3 cup of water, so 2-3 oz.

Not sure of the weight of the bubble rig but the best rod I have found to throw them is the 7ft fast action that comes with the Penn Pursuit II combo I will step up to Penn 7 ft fast action Squadron the comes with my Penn Battle II combo if I need to fight the sharks I have no problem throwing bubbles 1/2 to 3/4 full with either of these

Hmm. I have that rod. Almost never use it because its been too stiff for most of my freshwater fishing. Gonna have to try a bubble on it next time I head south.

If ya'll
have used the bubble rig, you already know you can adjust the weight to your setup depending how much water you fill the bubble with. I've never had any trouble with light gear as long I don't fill the bubble full. Play with it till you get it where you want it depending on rod and line weight.
good fishing...

I've had so much trouble with bubbles lately that I go ahead and put a bead of shoe goo around the seam before I tie them up. Just gob it around then when it's still soft but not sticky I smooth it out. I also tie a strand of 60 lb. leader with swivel on each end to keep it from sliding up my line when I cast.

Also, I found both smaller and larger sized bubbles this summer on my trip to Oregon. I think the ones I used on the pier weighed around 1.5 oz (guessing), but I didn't fill them completely.
