Depth for sheepshead
If there aren't any sheepshead visible at the pier, how deep do you fish for them?

Fish generally hang below the limit of visibility from above either for safety, comfort or feeding.
That's if you're fishing for them around the pilings.
At times they are right on the bottom or suspended just above it.(RETIRED) mostly.

Thanks, Dave, I love collecting new words. I'd heard people on the pier talking about fishing for them on bottom, but I'd always seen them working the pilings.

Honestly, I am not sure Tom. But your speculation has merit as recent rains would have brought an influx of nutrients into eastern LL and a subsequent increase in macroscopic life feeding on that...
