What weight line

I am planning a trip to Gulf Shores Pier in October. I plan to fish for Kings, Spanish and whatever inshore species that are still around, e.g. Blues, Speckled Trout, Founder, etc. For King fishing I have a Penn 7500ss with 16' test hi-vis and a 9' rod I bought at Half Hitch in Navarre. For the other fish, I have the following reels:

Reel	Capacity
Penn 5500 ss	325yd/10lb, 275yd/12lb, 225yd/15lb
Penn 450 ssg	325yd/8lb, 250yd/10lb, 200yd/12lb
Penn Fierce II	200yd/8lb, 165yd/10lb, 120yd/12lb
Shimano Sedona 2000	170yd/6lb, 120yd/8lb, 100yd/10lb

What type/weight line would you suggest for each of the above so I have all the bases covered (light line for low visibility and distance, heavier line to avoid cutoffs). I have some 20lb and 30lb fluro for leaders and 30lb 7 strand for King leaders

I would go 12# on the 5500
10# on the 250
8# on the Fierce 2000 &
6# on the Sedona 2000

...and IF you REALLY want to 'up your game' get a 1000 series Shimano and put 4# test on it coupled with a 6 1/2' to 7' ML action fast taper rod ;-)

I assume 8# and 6# would be too light for Spanish and more suitable for something like Trout, is that thinking there?

Nope, 8# is fine for Spanish macs as well as trout and slot reds.
Knot many of us use 6# line but then probably none of us have Pier#r’s skills either!!!

BTW, you will need some 50# mono for Spanish/bluefish leaders.

8# & 6# are fine for spanish (when I am 'meat' fishing ;-)

I believe I catch more fish (groceries) on my 4# outfit than all the other combined!

IF conditions allow, I go lighter to get more bites and make the best of those I get ;-)

John Madden told of going to a Vince Lombardi seminar which went 8 hours on 1 play, the Green Bay sweep. Madden said at the end of that he realized he only thought he understood football. John Wooden at UCLA started every season with a lecture on how to put on socks and lace shoes etc. Ex-players who went to the NBA hall of fame would bring their kids to hear that lecture on the value of attention to detail.

People who put fish on the deck when others can't do so because they know things I want to know too.

I usually use slightly heavier line then others, I like to horse fish in , and now with so many sharks present that is way more important, sometimes not being able to wait on a net for marginal (net) fish
