Bargain?
Went to a new store here in Evansville, IN that I think deals in factory seconds called Bargain Hunter. I picked up a 10 foot Lamiglas Surf King medium heavy spinning rod for $24.99 plus tax. All I could find wrong with it is a scratched spot and a few scuff marks in the paint. Is any one familiar with these rods? I think this was a pretty good price. I am thinking of getting a Penn Fierce FRS5000 reel to put on it. Would this be a good match? I don't have a whole lot of experience with surf fishing, so all comments and advice is appreciated. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and have a great New Year.

Is this it?

IF so, then it sounds like a good bargain.
Most any 5000 series Penn will hold over 200 yards of 15# mono.
That would match up well with this rod IMHO.
It would still be 'light' enough to pompano fish with, but heavy enough you could do battle with bull reds and drums.

The surf king rods are normally $130 so I would say you got a deal! Lamiglass makes quality rods and I think you'll like it. They have a more moderate curve which I like better when compared to a lot of the faster blanks in the surf rod market. It should be a versatile combo.
