BILOXI, Miss. (CNN) — Watch the dramatic moments when the lights go out after hours of storm surge waves hit the Lighthouse Pier in Biloxi.
I can say at least one of the tops is still on the pier, the bathrooms look to still be standing and no complete sections missing. This is from my vantage point about 3 miles west of the pier.
Attachment 6708 picture if the pier if I did it right.
Hoping Wade will take a closeup....hard to tell much........but thanks for sharing.....
Concerned about the railing and octagon shelter.....plus many other things
I'm taking a morning walk, will update in 2 miles
Wade just posted live video from his condo all the way to east of pier. Looks like everything OK except for front rail. The beach had a lot of railing and pallets washed on shore.
Posted on FB just now: https://www.facebook.com/WKRG.Debbie...5570430157447/
Wade did a live fb feed, looks better then I expected.....gates closed with no one checking??
Still says the front rail was gone, there were railing section on the beach as he walked down toward the pier plus numerous deck boards along the beach.....why would't they have removed them all? Now they need to replace with new (not a bad thing I guess)
Wade made a comment as he got to and under the pier about another person taking video's with a whole lot bigger better camera then is.....must have been the news lady
Wade was just live with pictures of the damage south of the bathrooms he took off the phone of person that checked the damage.
Yep, I saw uglyness on the girls phone....why leave the REMOVABLE panels in to get distroyed....a whole lot safer in the parking lot stacked and steel banded together
From what I've seen of the pier maintenance people trying to replace boards they are almost impossible to pull up.
Nothing much to add, ran into Wade, crews are waiting on go to get started in repairs.
Many panels stayed in but the ones that came out helped due more damage to the structure.....i guess the wood swells and makes it harder to remove the panels.....good machinery bar would do wonders working them up and out.....but that's from a rigger most of my retired career .....the surge of the water didn't have a problem with most.....if there is a will, there is always a way
Now that my arm chair input is done..... (not)....I hope they get it back for you fisherpeople soon....going to miss the reports......head east
Four Seasons looks good from the public beach access and the new sea wall decking is perfect.
Hogman said the workers said it will be open by shrimp fest.....dang they better get on it then
To all who took the time to send pics and updates on the damage, a big thanks. Look forward to seeing everyone in a couple of weeks.
Just a little wind and some rain here, the AM high tide helped us out big time keeping the surge down.

Where will 'Blue Pants Bob' fish now?Quote:
Coden, AL (WKRG) — One of the temporary casualties of Hurricane Nate is a beloved fishing spot in south Mobile County.
Dauphin Island Mayor Jeff Collier confirms the Cedar Point Pier was heavily damaged by Hurricane Nate. Collier said most of the decking was knocked off and the pier may need a major rebuild.
Cedar Point Pier is located just north of the Dauphin Island Bridge. It has been around for decades and is one of the busiest fishing spots in Mobile County.
This damage report is on the heels of more damage being reported on Dauphin Island.
Officials say three miles of the west end of Bienville Boulevard is covered with sand six feet deep.
Boat fisherman have an excellent spot to fish until its' rebuilt for sure. That pier fished a lot of folks day and night. Sure hope they get it back up for them!
From the damage I saw, its water pipes broken and electric ripped loose in addition the the rails and blowout sections gone, there's no way they will get it open by Shrimp Fest. My guess is they'll be lucky to get it repair d in a month!
I feel sorry for the guys and gals that fish everyday, kinda they're life......going to be hard for them till it gets back up and open again
I look forward to seeing what Nate did to the local sandbars, particularly around the GSP, Dauphin Island and Ft. Morgan Point.
Duplicate post.
Just back in the condo from walking under and past the pier. The lights are on in the bait shop and restaurant area but no lights past that. Talked to a worker yesterday evening in the parking lot that was sorting boards. He said they might do a partial open but wasn't sure. Only 4 workers making repairs at that time.
Sure thought there would be more people working on getting it back opened. With the number of people working on the overpasses they are putting in and the guard rails being installed and maintenance people that are employed by the park itself it seems that with that big a workforce it could have been opened today.
Its only 3 days since the storm and they have a whole park to get back open & running, not just the pier. Jeesh, give 'em a break.
I think his point is "How much revenue is the park losing by the pier being closed?"
vs "How much is the park bringing in with folkses waiting to bike across that overwalk?"
But probably MOST (if not all those workers on the hiway are ALDOT?)
I've driven by the wooden fence they are putting up down the bike path and seen probably 12 people working there and no telling how many putting up the walk overs on the beach road is what I'm talking about. When Kevin posted that there were only 4 people working on repairs I could understand why the office said 2-3 weeks to reopen.
Likely the initial assessment included ordering replacement materials and contacting the necessary individuals/companies to do the labor in the correct order (i.e. the repair of the pipes and wiring underneath the panels would likely have to be done first). That's my guess as to why everyone isn't working all at once.
... then why would they not talk to Wade about his (and others) offer to volunteer?
Maybe they don't want to deal with the liability if a volunteer gets hurt?
WE went about 6 months couple years ago without water so I don't think that would be a hold up.
Looking at the condition of the water, what would one catch anyway? Catfish? A nap?
Hope things get settled down and I hope that Nate didn't cause too much of an issue for all of you down there. We got Nate rain up here on Saturday evening/Sunday morning.
