Pelican Heist
[size=12pt]
This trio was on the Octi today planning a major heist. They were still trying to figure it out when I left.

My wife's friend chased a heron around for 30 minutes last week trying to catch one who hijacked his bait knife. After multiple trips of trying to eat it, the bird finally dropped it and flew to an group of anglers and stole (and ate) a lure. Such is the impact of tourists making these wild animals dependent on humans for food by tossing fish at them in the summer (big mistake).
As for the pelican heist, that is some funny stuff!!!! I wish people would post comics like that more often. We should designate a "funnies section" for comic natured art such as that. I'd love to see the creative minds coming up with such brilliant ideas.
I would suggest a contest, but FinChaser will win them all by default with his prudently profound proliferance of professionally produced pictoral perfectionisms.
Keep it coming Fin--lovin' it!

Re: Pelican Heist
[size=12pt] Thanks #r,, but there is no such thing as too much time unless you are waiting at a red light on your way to the pier or other fishing spot!
Actually, the older we get, the less time we have, so I try to enjoy doing fun stuff as much as possible.
VG, set up a contest and I will stay out of it. Btw, thanks for the compliment, I think; I still have to look up all them big words to be sure.
You ain’t from around here are ya?oke1:

Are you kidding? I think I'd speak for everyone when I say we'd not only want you to enter, but also hope and expect you would win. Such talents are worthy of praise!
I am actually Danish (Denmark Viking) by blood, but I have lived in random places within 100 miles of the Gulf most of my life.
I am glad that my current location has placed me less than half an hour from the shoreline.
I apologize for the non-layman's words most of the time--of course the 7-P's were for a fun way of saying your comic above was "pro-genius." I minored in creative writing at AU (electively while in a science program), and when I'm not fishing or working, I am busy reading or writing as a hobby. I guess I can be too technical at times, but I had a few professors who instilled that in to me.
Most of my writings have been fantasy-based materials or poetic, but I am currently working on some "fishing" related materials. Once I get the information compiled, I'm am hoping to integrate some advices, tips and photos from the locals as an added touch. More on that to come at a later date.I can't spill the beans on that just yet.

Re: Pelican Heist
:guns:
Pelicans are on my poop list. On the pier by myself today catching Spanish on a sabiki. Caught 4 at once. Trying to take fish off while avoiding teeth, hooks and tangles alone would have been a chore. Having 6 pelicans desparately trying, at the same time, to steal my fish was a nightmare. Had a fish in my left hand and pliers in my right trying to get the others unhooked. SMACK! My fish and my whole hand were inside a pelicans's mouth. Got all my fish in the cooler but that sucker drew blood in 3 spots. They'll get no more from me for a good long while. >Screw it. Let's ride.

Re: Pelican Heist
Yep, fishermen (and visitors on the pier) will continue to think it's all 'cute and cudly' to feed these vultures until someone gets their eye put out. :
If I might suggest throwing a towel over fish to let the bird know it is yours and not potentially theirs.
As the winter rages on they will only get bolder and more aggressive when hungry.(RETIRED) mostly.

Re: Pelican Heist
I fear it will be a child in the wrong place at the wrong time. With 6 of them competing for limited resources, they are getting more aggressive. I hate to sound like a wuss but my hand is sore as heck. That sucker really chomped down and nailed me with his beak point. Sadly, they are only doing what they have been conditioned to do. Put me firmly in the don't feed the critters camp.
Screw it. Let's ride.
