Another Rod Thread...
I am interested in a custom rod, But I don't want anything flashy. I want a 7'6" to 8' for throwing plugs and snobbling cigs. I want to pair it with my Quantum Blue PTS 40 reel. I'd like stainless guides, foam split grip and black wraps. Weight is a key issue, I'd like it pretty dang light. Basically a simple lighter duty king rod for the pier. Any rod building gurus have any advice for me, and or quotes?

I'm from MN. and have been building rods for over 40 years. We plan to spend Jan. & Feb. in Gulf Shores. I have fished a lot in the Gulf but never in Gulf Shores. I will build you what ever you want for the cost of the materials, I order most of my components out of Mudhole, Custom Fishing Rod Building & Tackle Crafting Supply | mudhole.com, In return, I would like some direction & technique when we arrive in Jan. How does that sound to you? The Flyguy

Hi, I'm from MN. and have been building rods for 40 years. This Winter we are spending Jan. & Feb. in Gulf Shores. I have fished the Gulf a lot in TX. & FL. but not Gulf Shores. I will build you whatever you want for the cost of the components. Most of my components are ordered out of Mudhole, Custom Fishing Rod Building & Tackle Crafting Supply | mudhole.com. You can look at that website and get a pretty good idea of what you want, or if you have questions you can e-mail me at lmsimon98@gmail.com. There will not be any labor fee, but in return I would like some advise on where to go and what technique would work best when we arrive down there in Jan.
