If the rod has a guide between the reel seat and the hole, you can use a spinning reel in the 4000 size. If it does not have a guide,a large bait casting reel is what you need. If the tip of the rod has a metal collar,30lb braid works best on spinning because there is no memory to choke the line being the guide is only a foot from the reel. If the collar is all plastic, heavy mono around 20lb is best because lighter line will grove the tip faster.

JG: Thanks for the tips on the line to Steven. Some new information for me too that will be helpful, only now I have to stop in for new line again.

For a sabiki rig you only need to add 25 yards to the end. You won't usually have but half of that out at a time if you are bait-fishing, so you can lose a bit to attrition.

Was good to see you, even if for that brief time, hopefully, we can catch up sometime when you get back.
