Got creative...
I took a piece of 1.5 PVC pipe and 20 2ft sections of oil sample tubing and built myself a Wire leader holder. In the mornings when the bite is chewing I hate having to take the extra time to dig in the box for leaders. So I just decided to build a holder for leaders.....

It's a lot easier to beg for leaders than make them, and the same goes for needing cigs.This is what I do,sell them the stuff, then help them use it up so they have to buy more.Thanks a'lot Slim,Todd,Blane, and the rest of the morning crew...........

That is one fine strategy.
Honestly, I am not sure Tom. But your speculation has merit as recent rains would have brought an influx of nutrients into eastern LL and a subsequent increase in macroscopic life feeding on that...
Rain/Red minnows shortage this...
