Gosh all mighty. Turkey season starts Friday. There is supposed to be a warm up the rest of the week with a nice warm weekend forecast for Gulf Shores. Arrrgh. I hate decisions like this.

Fishing is year'round... No contest, Turkey Lurkey must die :guns:
Kinda what I'm thinking....
I am coming down there fishing....because it's been planned a longtime....then next week I will head to camp and turkey hunt....
Worst and best time of year for me, fishing is year round but the best fishing will be mid march till end of may then it gets hot. But on the other hand love to turkey hunt. I usually fish the weekends i have to work and hunt when i dont.

But I could do that too.....
:spank:
I suppose I'll have to go tomorrow afternoon and see if I can roost one hard by where I've been scouting and planning to hunt. If not, I'll come fishing.
I have been listening to some....they are still bunched up pretty tight....in central Mississippi
They just started gobbling at perdido river wma my bud heard 8 yesterday.
I've been waiting for a warm weekend on the pier since January... I had my time to do all the hunting I could do this year, fisheys gonna get their turn now!!!

Well, seeing as I'm just above the FL line in East L.A., I'd guess these thunder chickens here are probably on a similar schedule. I'll see tomorrow afternoon.

Too bad turkey season doesn't last all summer
:poke1: :fishing:
Negative ghost rider. I'm outta the woods when it gets hot. Having grown up hunting in Louisiana big creek bottom swamps, I learned the true meaning of big skeeters and bigger snakes. :run
Problem solved. I'm a week ahead. Season starts NEXT Friday. :violent
I was wondering.....we have folks open early here..... :poke1:

I may get out up here....not high up on my priority list.....free for me, so??? If I am down there(cabin and land) I'll go.... if not oh well....would like to get another tail fan on the wall, and they aren't to bad to eat either :eat: :poke1:
The only thing for us turkey hunters to do is to get our limits in the first days before the fishing heats up. I don't know if I could live with myself if I knew there was a "chew the pier down" day while I was chasing after some PHD, henned-up gobbler, but on the other hand, I'd hate to be on the pier on days when the fish have lockjaw complicated by anorexia when I could be in the spring woods listening to a gobbler drum as he starts coming in range. D@mn---life can be so hard!
I've been waiting for you to chime in on this thread George.I remember your goal, five birds in five days so you can get back to fishing.
If I can do three birds in ten days, I'll be satisfied. Nearly all those gobblers where I hunt are card-carrying MENSA members, and I've made so many mistakes I've educated them far beyond college degrees.
I apply the same logic I learned in the duck blind. When all else fails, just shut up and hope he's stupid or horney beyond caring.
I have developed the "Find a good spot, call, fall asleep, wake up and shoot turkey" style of hunting to perfection.
My snoring must sound like a bird drumming?!?!
it's a no-brainer for me.if i was closer to the pier and the fishing, i would never kill another one of those acorn-eating feathered rats. i have never gone fishing and wished i was turkey hunting. i have gone turkey hunting and wished i was fishing numerous times. now deer is whole 'nother story.
I am headed to camp....ya'll stay safe....

If you used the same method for deer, you would be amazed. The key to it is taking a nap in the right spot, the deer will come wake you up.
I've fallen asleep in the deer stand more than once only to wake up and see deer everywhere
lol
