I found some older threads on this but thought it was worth revisiting. Is Billy's on Bon Secour still good for fresh, off the boat eatin' shrimp? Would you locals recommend others? And any idea on what 9/12 or 19/25 count runs per pound? Thanks in advance!

I hate to say this, but in all fairness, most local seafood places dont have "fresh off the boat". Even though that's what they advertise. Shrimp dont keep very well, so most are frozen, then thawed and put on ice to be sold as fresh. Dont get me wrong, they're still good, just not fresh like you're thinking.
Also resturaunts will sell Asian raised shrimp because it's cheaper, so ask if its locally caught or imported, including shrimp sold in most grocery stores.
I have not been there in two years but their is a family member of the famous Plash family that shrimps at night and docks where the old family market used to be. He is usually thereby 730 am and sells the nights catch right off the boat. Usually sold out by ten am.
My family is new to the area. Where might the old family market (Plash) be located. Thanks!
If you go west on County Road 4 from 59 at the bridge you are headed towards Plash Island. Go left at the intersection (which will result in your continuing west), cross the bridge and you are on Plash Island where the seafood place was (on the eastern shore of the "Island" that was created when the ICWW severed the neck of Oyster Bay long ago). I fish that old neck of Oyster Bay from time to time (most recently, last Saturday), but I've never seen anybody selling shrimp off a boat. I would suggest you get a phone number.Quote:

2nd vote for Joe Patty's in Pensacola. So many options and outstanding prices! I generally spend a couple hundred there before heading home to Chicago.
I'll second what Chillinfish says. Freddie and his wife are aweso.e people and shrimp a IQF which my wife likes.
