Sheepshead classic southern recipe!
Well I know this is just good old souther fried fish but sheepshead fried is just too good to be true. I cut it across the fillet into strips and in a bowl add salt, pepper, lemon pepper and a little seasoned salt. Put in fridge for half hour while you get ready. First hush puppies just no need to get fancy. Chopped onion, chopped chives, cup corn meal, 2 tablespoons flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon pepper and buttermilk. I love to add jalapeņos but tonight the kids promised they would eat hush puppies. Get the fish out and add buttermilk just enough to wet them all. For the fish get a gallon baggy and put about 2 cups corn meal, 1/4 cup flour, I used lots of salt and pepper (probably a teaspoon of each) but season to your liking. Add the fish to the Baggie and Shake well to cover all. Cook and enjoy!
Honestly, I am not sure Tom. But your speculation has merit as recent rains would have brought an influx of nutrients into eastern LL and a subsequent increase in macroscopic life feeding on that...
Rain/Red minnows shortage this...
