I'd go with live shrimp. Then, if you're not successful with sheepshead and flounder, you can use peeled fresh-dead shrimp pieces for bait for whiting. I use small pieces, about the size of the last digit of my little finger. If whiting are in and biting, they'll keep the kids and you occupied. You may also catch croakers and sailcats.
