We're staying romar lake in orange beach,and we are down here till October 13th. And would like to take my wife fishing from the bank and maybe a charter what do you all recommend. And what tackle do you all recommend I bass fish but will that cut it

I can promise you that all you need to do is hook into one king on the pier, and you will never want to look at another bass again.
+1 on getting hooked on pier fishing. The pier is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your'e gonna get. Bass (spinning combos) will work for specs, flounder, pompano, whiting, slot reds, spanish and other smaller fish. An 8ft catfish combo with 20-30lb line will suffice for kings, bull reds and jacks. Go to J&M Tackle in Orange Beach and get a bait ribbon net, 5 gallon bucket with and aerator, and pick up some live shrimp and bull minnows. Get a spool of 30lb sevenstrand uncoated wire, a box of Size 4 4X bronze treble hooks and size 10 swivels to make king leaders. Hire Mr. Thornton for a few hours to show you what to do with the stuff you got from J&M. He's that guy that you stand next to with the identical bait and rigging and he limits out and you get skunked. Spray your reels with Reel Magic and let it dry before you come down. Rinse them at the end of every days fishing or you will ruin them. Congratulations and good luck.
