The three mile barge was covered up with grouper. They would follow a hooked fish to the surface. My brothers and I almost sunk our 14 ft B-Craft with a load of them when we crossed a small boat wake coming back in the pass.

I was thinking we may get a surge of fish here like grouper or bluefish, my son-in-law in Charleston sent me a photo of his 16# bluefish and says the ones he caught here are just "bait".

It's probably insensitive for me to bring it up, but I well remember the time, back in the last century, when a hurricane went in at the Big Bend area and sent a zillion grouper over here. We caught them until it was a shame. I caught two ten pounders in my bait trap in Terry Cove where they'd forced their way in after the baitfish. People were filling their boxes with grouper at the jetties at Perdido Pass. No limits back then. The price of grouper plummeted. It was quite a couple of days.

I remember some being caught off the old pier because of a hurricane but I can’t tell you what year or the name of the storm.

Doesn’t look too bad- bit of a beach washer I could sense the trout underneath the pier two light posts back from the t! Spillway looks like a class 4 rapids November 1st they’re sayin
