I tie mine just like Tato and Chillinfish do except I usually have a second swivel on the top end that prevents the bubble from moving around on the cast. Never had a problem with Spanish hitting the swivel at the bubble.
Thanks for the pic chillinfish. So your main line can be braid?
I tie same as fshntime I use two black figure 8 swivels placing the bubble in between on about 4-5 inches of mono Run the leader line from the bottom figure 8 and I actually use a black snap swivel on my main line so I can change colors quickly if need be and just clip to the top figure 8 I don't even use a bead anywhere Keep it simple When the spanish are there it's not going to matter I'd also suggest putting super glue or Shoe Goo from Walmart on the middle seam of your bubble Keeps the bubble from coming apart and Shoe Goo acts like a rubber bumper to keep the bubble from cracking if you hit the rail or something Good Fishing !!
Yes BUT, if you hook a king mackerel your line can contact and CUT the mono of those fishing near you and make you really unpopular. I use braid on a Spanish outfit but usually in the area before you get to the octi so as to avoid cutting other people's line. The last time I fished(late October) I used braid to try to reel my fish in quicker. The sharks were following gotcha lures and eating the Spanish as soon as they bit the gotcha. I also use two swivels like fshntime said. The picture was grabbed off the web. Good luck!
