it was shallow last time i was there, but still quite fishable. it's been a minute since i've been but i'd give it a look if you're going to be there. fish can be caught.

The Palomar not is your problem , I bass fishing 300 + days a year and have caught 33 bass over 10 lbs so I kinda have made lots of mistakes and found stuff that works over the years , when u set the hook hard and fast on a Palomar not , the way it's tied will causes it to break on fast hooks sets , figured this out with short lines bed fishing one year , uni knot a whole lot stronger

That's sweet. Have you ever tried the rattlesnake soft lure? Made by Grande Bass?

I tie my bubbles up ahead of time using at least 50lb. or better leader and put a swivel as close to the bubble on each side. When I tie the leader on for the straw I usually make it fairly long that way when it gets frayed I just cut a few inches off and retie. I always use a uni-knot and only problem is making sure it gets on the hook or swivel the way it is suppose to. If your not careful one of the loops might get behind the eye and mess the whole thing up. Usually use 60lb. leader line seems to work better than saying using 60lb.Big game line. One other thing I do is make sure when I tie the leader on so that when I pull on it will be trying to pull the stem into the bubble. A lot of people don't think it matters but I have seen people tie it the other way and when they pop it the stem comes loose and lets the water out.

Forgot to mention that you don't ever want to use shiny or gold swivels. Spanish and Blues will go after the flash and cut your line. What I would do is go hang out and see what everyone is doing and if you need advice just ask. Haven't met anybody on the GSPP that wouldn't be willing to help out.
