Remora rodeo
If I can get to the pier this evening, I think I'm going to bring an old snapper boat rod and lay waste to the remoras. I've heard that some other folks have done this, and maybe we can thin the herd a little bit---unless, of course, there is a mackerel bite of some sort going on. Those sucker heads were thick yesterday afternoon.
If somebody snags another ray this afternoon while I'm there, I think I'll claim it if I can and see how they really taste.

If it is a cownose ray, it will prepare and taste identical to deer meat (venison) and you can even smoke it into jerky.
Southern rays and skates will tend to be more uniquely flavored, but texture will be more like crab meat. These are best prepared as a casserole or quiche.
In all cases with stingrays, the meat must be given a milk bath in the fridge for at least overnight to 24 hrs to remove the bitter electrolytes from the meat using milk's enzymes.
Afterward, the meat will have its natural flavor and can be prepared, marinated and seasoned for consumption however you like.
Do not punch holes in the wings, as contrary to popular belief, except for two small species of skates, stingray is nothing like scallops.
Take the entire wings off close to the body.
Fillet the cartilages out and cut the wings into manageable 4" by 4" squares. There will be workable meat above and below the cartilage sheets.
Poach the slabs in sub boiling water for 45 sec, and remove. The skin will roll off with a fork. Leaving you a slab of preparable meat with no bones or cartilage.

Thanks, Viking Guy. That's valuable information and will save me lots of trial and error---I especially didn't know about the electrolytes---actually, I was going into the project with an astonishing burden of ignorance, but you have lightened my load.

I've had ray before, but not prepared in that manner.
I'll trying it again some time, just have to save one wing for the sharks.

Sure thing guys.
By the way, save both wings.
Sharks, especially Bulls, are much happier with eating the stingray's head as opposed to the wings.
Keep that big square head along with some dangling entrails as bait for sharks, and you won't regret it. 8)

One by one they all will fall by the point on our hooks. I just wish they would take a hint and leave on their own. I vow to kill all I can with the time I have after I get my limit...

There were two little ling mixed in with them this am.
A kid caught one on a piece of shrimp and I netted & released it. 25" FL

I'm known as the remora killa, I was there about a week ago and everyone else is hooked with a king and I'm the only one who hooked up with a KING sized remora, I screamed for a gaff but no one seem to wanna help after they saw what it was. You can see them chasing your bait when you retreve, I think they makes perfect target for my .45 colt 1911. Are firearms allowed on the pier?
