Thread: sheepshead hook

I use the kahle hook for live baiting(bull minnows) the flounder, when I can get my butt off the end for the other fish....that just doesn't happen too often sad to say....since there isn't any fish in the shallows.....I like to hear that screeeeeming drag :headbang:

What are the best months to catch spanish?????? i guess LY's would be a good live bait? would eagle claw Kahle hooks be a good hook on LY's or would some other hook work better?????? I bought som eagle claw 1/0 Kahle hooks at academy. They were the smallest Kahle hooks I could find.

IMO the BEST months to catch spanish from the pier are April and October.
Use lures in April, and small LYs in October and small cigar minnows ANYTIME ;-)

And you will have better luck hooking them with a treble hook than a kahle. #6 to #2 depending on the size of the bait...
