Re: Storm is starting to sound bad.
I drive truck, and was in this crud all morning.
Spent my morning wet, even with rain gear, my shoes still aren't completely dry.
I saw more wind/rain out of this line of SE moving T-Storms than I did out of Issac.
Areas in/around Selma, which were directly in that path of almost the entire line of storms, were hit hard.
US80 West of Selma had a lot of water on it, saw 3-4 that'd cars hydroplaned into the ditches and median.
In Selma drove through some moderate flooding, had a car try to follow me and get drowned out, dodged two fallen trees and saw a lot of lightning.
Took me 1.5hrs to get from the far West side of Selma to Montgomery.
Finished my day here in Lagrange, GA, thankfully, just a few sprinkles over here.

They are still over-hyping this system ::)
NHC gives it a 10% chance of gaining tropical characteristics...

At least the front expected this weekend should end any threat for a while, plus bring in some dryer, cooler air! :headbang:
Re: Storm is starting to sound bad.
Crown hasn't been dependable or accurate this year. I think there was a mention of a death in his family early in the season, and I think that threw him way off his game. I'll wait and see---he has been real good in the past.

Let's just say that he's right often enough that you can't ignore him, but wrong often enough that you can't depend on him.
Re: Storm is starting to sound bad.
The National Hurricane Center now has it at 50% chance of development.

Re: Storm is starting to sound bad.
:poke1: This was such a non-issue it's not even funny. ::)
In this visible sat pic from Thursday pm the center of this weak low center is evident by the cloud swirl SE of the mouth of the Mississippi River.
Any storms associated with it are displaced well to the SW due to shearing mid and upper level winds from the north and drier air.
That's why we can see the center of circulation on the surface in the pic.
It's the best sign this is a VERY weak system and likely to remain so.

From NHC @ 7am CDT Friday Sept 7
Quote:
AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER THE NORTH-CENTRAL GULF OF MEXICO IS
PRODUCING CLOUDINESS AND A FEW SQUALLS PRIMARILY SOUTH OF THE
CENTER. THE LOW HAS MOVED SOUTHWARD SINCE YESTERDAY BUT IT IS
FORECAST TO DRIFT EASTWARD DURING THE NEXT DAY OR TWO.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BECOME LESS FAVORABLE FOR
DEVELOPMENT...AND THIS SYSTEM HAS A LOW...20 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A
TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.
This IMHO is a very good case study in why I pay no credence to the doomdayers ::) :D :slap: :spank: :violent :wall: :horse:
