Its not going to hit us. Everyday it is moved farther west and later in the week. Tomorrow it will be heading for New Orleans and everyone will be freaking out. Then Sunday, it will be moved toward Texas.
Buba, I sure hope you're right. It would make all of us real happy if it went to the east of us and kept the seas from pounding the pier so bad, not to mention keeping our property damage down. All but one of the computer models right now show landfall to the east. I'm still going to dust off my storm shutters.
The further east it goes the better off we'll be.
Being in the crosshairs now, is far better than being in the crosshairs on Tuesday or Wednesday 8)
Cat 2 or 3??
Havent seen that on any forecast website. NOAA, WeatherUnderground and StormPulse all have it at a mid-level Cat 1 at landfall.
They do all have the forecast track centered on us though. :(
But as others noted, the trend all week has been to push it farther west with every new forecast. We might end up on the worng side of this one, who knows at this point. It will be Monday before we really need to panic. ???
I think I'll go ahead and panic now and get it over with.
For Haywire...

Bubba sez "Brothers and sistaz fear not the 'cone of death', for it will befall others." :yippee:
Yes, instead of hoping it weakens and hurts no one, lets all hope someone else gets the chit pounded out of them. :poke1:
The used to be fat guy on NBC (Al Roker) drew his forecast track at 7am this morning and it looked like he was bringing it in on top of Gulf Shores/Orange Beach. Let's hope he was wrong. I would much prefer it to go ashore at Tampa Bay about Tuesday. It might be soon time to start making some preparations. Good luck folks, my prayers are with you.
Haven’t found any forecast that says anything but CAT 1.
Sunday – To shutter or not to shutter? Landfall Pensacola to Mississippi / Louisiana line = shutters staged and ready to go up Monday morning if no change in projection.
Monday - Stay or go? CAT 1 = Stay CAT 2 = Wife decides CAT 3+ = Out of here.
Tuesday AM – Execute answer to stay or go question. Haul ass or hunker down.
"When in danger, or in doubt, shout and scream and dash about."
I'll evacuate in a hiccup, but I round up the family and go to my hunting camp up in Grove Hill which is far enough to be mostly safe, but isn't all that far away. I'm real lucky to have that as a refuge---generator on standby

Bubba let's go yakkin in a few days
I was watching studio 10 a few minutes ago and the latest computer models are starting to show a more easterly turn into the big bend of Florida....Of course we all know that those computer models change every hour...Lets just hope it moves fast and stays east of us.

Panic, Hyperventilate and Die.
Panic early and often.
ALL RIIIIGHT!! (10:30 a.m.) They've moved landfall back to the east, well away from us----hope it stays there as a prediction and as a fact.

I hope the hits atleast 150 miles to the east.
Even if it hits east of GS/OB I sure hope the water clears up by the week of Sept 9th when I'm there to fish! Praying for all of you locals. God Bless!
4PM forecast has it hitting Panama City late Tuesday.
Let's hope ;-)
Don't let your guard down though...

LOL Love it fin
Wish us luck we are leaving Arkansas for Orange Beach at 4am Sun, and I really want to fish down there so far I've got 2-30 packs of Bud Light loaded hopefully that will get me by til it passes!!!!!!!!!
i go with Crownweather.com who has been saying upper cat 2 to cat 3 for 2 days now...
now accuweather http://www.accuweather.com/en/hurric...tic/isaac-2012 has started jumpiong on board... i for one hope they are wrong.
models are just flipping back and forth so somewhere on the panhandle to GS is getting hit
::)
IN-accuweather has about THE worst reputation in the weather forecasting industry for over hyping storms such as this.
IMHO what they are doing is criminal and they should be shut down, at the very least their so-called forecasts should come with the disclaimer "For entertainment purposes ONLY!". :poke1:
OFFICIAL advisories and forecasts from NOAA's NWS and NHC are the ONLY sources that should be trusted in weather situations like the current one we are facing.

+1 #r!
If you want weather info. NOAA is the best source. When you live here, you need the truth, a storm has zero entertain value what so ever for us.
Another plus with NOAA is there aren’t any popup ads!
When NOAA says it’s time to build the Ark, I’m on it. (pun intended)
can not believe anyone would say NOAA was the best!!!! i guess being the best does not necessarily mean being good...

"good" meaning what? Not worth the money?
NOAA is FREE for all of us to use (or not).
Being these other 'pay for' weather services get ALL of their data from NOAA, I'm at a loss to understand how they can outperform NOAA services.
About 10 years ago a couple of these upstart weather companies tried to petition Congress to get the NWS and NHC out of the forecasting business completely.
That would have meant all Americans would then have to pay THEM for the information which has already been bought and paid for by tax dollars.
I feel sorry for anyone who actually pays for their so-called forecasts as we have all already paid for them with what is unequivocally the biggest and dare I say best weather information gathering and desiminating organization in the world.

Well Spin, I guess you are right, here is the forecast track trom http://www.crownweather.com/?page_id=7073
Oh wait, that is the NOAA map, I guess Crownweather.com thinks NOAA is pretty damn good too.
In fact all their maps appear to be copied from NOAA!
Just sayin’

crown does use all the NOAA i am sure but whoever runs that site is always about 2 days ahead on predictions than the weather channel and NHC. look at his archive reports... that being said, i hope they are all wrong......
by the way crown is a free site...

The reason they make predictions 2 days ahead is because they are using data that is relatively unreliable.
TS forecast predictions more than 3 days out have an error factor of nearly 50% and the intensity forecasts have even more error.
Thus an intensity forecast more than 3 days ahead is at best a 50/50 guess.
And yes, even I can do that by flipping coin, which CW requests BTW to continue to provide it's viewers from the publicly funded domain at NOAA ;-)
i am jsut saying that i have followed crown for a few years and whoever is making their forecast is pretty good at looking at data and guessing right more times than not. all weather prediction is guessing albeit educated guessing some are better than others,
i like crown you like who you like ...no big deal to me...i think we are all hoping for the same thing....

YES we are!

I do think NOAA is by far the most reliable, but how cool in wunderground's wundermap? They have THE COOLEST maps.
http://www.wunderground.com/tropical
Be happy its not like ya'll live on the beach.
Ah crap... :wall:
I've been reading Crown for a couple of years. This year, it has missed badly on some of the predictions. I'll stick with NOAA and Weather Underground, which are pretty much the same. I don't live on the beach, but with tropical events, I live too d@mned close.
We live in Foley, how concerned should we be as far as having to evacuate and head north for a few days? Sorry if this is a simple question but we just moved here in January from Birmingham and have no hurricane experience.
Thanks,
David
