What do y'all think about the suitability of a Shimano Teramar Southeast TMS80MH for tossing LYs and lures to Kings?
Medium Heavy power, Fast action, 8' length, 10-20# line, 1-1.5oz lure
Probably pair it with a Penn 6500SS Spinfisher, 15# mono.

I looked at one on the shelf and the blank is ok but that's about all. The stripper guide is only 30mm and you need at least a 40 for a 6500 and the butt is only 10.5'', you need 14 to15'' in order to whip with two hands. I give it a no for me personally.
John do you have anything on the shelf that would suit my needs and reel?
My budget is about $150.-$200.
This is going to sound crazy but go to your local Walmart. The Berkley big game spinning rod is incredible, especially if you can find an 8 ft medium heavy. It has a slower top, great for not slinging bait off and all the backbone your will ever need. I have two that I have used for 4 years now. Of course had to sand them and do a custom paint job. I promise you will love the rod. Best part the price point is 29.99
For around $85 in parts I will help you build one in less than three hours. If you want to see how it's done, name a day. Start at 5am and finished by 8 and ready for P/U the next day. I sure mini you would like to do this.
You better take that offer Chile, I sure would.
What is the name & number of the blank you would use? If it's a builder's secret so be it. I understand . thx jjm
John, thank you very much for the offer.
Nate and I are looking forward to it, it'll be great to learn some basics about rod building.
This offer of your time and experience is just a couple of the reasons we and many others hold you and J&M in such high regard.
Thanks again and see you soon.
