Exactly my outlook! I'm constantly replacing grim realities with an optimistic, sunny forecast! My alternate reality has me winning the Powerball jackpot, building my own private pier into the gulf and letting only my friends come and fish on it! And yes, we'll all be able to fish for sharks if we want to! We'll have refreshments brought to us by well-appointed wait staff and professional fish cleaners there eager to convert our sheepshead/pompano/speckled trout etc. into tasty fillets, which the on-site chef will be glad to prepare to your specifications. There won't be a bathroom attendant (I've always thought that was weird and awkward), but the bathrooms will be properly stocked and cleaned regularly. There will be a complimentary bait station for everyone to avail themselves of live shrimp, eels (seasonal), and ghost shrimp (harvested by a team of specialized ghost shrimp-suckers). In other words - Fisherman's Heaven!
Chillin:
I'm revising my forecast for this weekend to rain, wrong-way high winds, muddy water, high humidity, higher humility, googans, catfish, sharks, no LYs, cheap pizza, bad internet connections and watching college football on too-small motel TVs. In short, a typical trip for me. But, I'll be with my son, so who cares?
Re: forecast. The GFS has the storm traveling faster and going ashore near Grand Isle, LA early Sunday morning. If that is right it will put us on the right side of the dang thing - much worse for surf and erosion than the map above.
I think we'd better keep an eye on this thing.
Ensemble also has it west of us.

European has future "Nate" going east of us.

I cast my vote for that forecast.

I thank God this is NOT forecast to be a devastating hurricane!
Just a minimal one, and it should move through quickly allowing the water to calm early next week...

Looks like Monday will be a J&M day. I need a new tee handle for my pier cart and a long sleeve J&M t-shirt for the cooler weather to come. Tackle boxes need reorganizing and reels re-spooled. Hopefully a few specs or flounder will bite in the lagoon on Tuesday. Wind may calm enough by Wednesday to get ghost shrimp for next March and April. Maybe by Thursday the water calms down enough to fish the pier.
Planning to come down Sat. for a week at the park. Having the urge to shout the F word over and over very loudly. Do you think it might help?
Wifey cancelled our weekend trip due to weather. Maybe I'll make it down the weekend after the Skrimp Fest. Seriously thought about making a run down this morning but my body told me different lol. Y'all be safe.
Just got a few last casts in with Wade and Mike water looked good off the end! Pier will be closing in about two hrs Good luck guys!
