Ya think WE have pier problems...

Just back in the condo from walking under and past the pier. The lights are on in the bait shop and restaurant area but no lights past that. Talked to a worker yesterday evening in the parking lot that was sorting boards. He said they might do a partial open but wasn't sure. Only 4 workers making repairs at that time.

Sure thought there would be more people working on getting it back opened. With the number of people working on the overpasses they are putting in and the guard rails being installed and maintenance people that are employed by the park itself it seems that with that big a workforce it could have been opened today.

Its only 3 days since the storm and they have a whole park to get back open & running, not just the pier. Jeesh, give 'em a break.

I think his point is "How much revenue is the park losing by the pier being closed?"
vs "How much is the park bringing in with folkses waiting to bike across that overwalk?"

But probably MOST (if not all those workers on the hiway are ALDOT?)

I've driven by the wooden fence they are putting up down the bike path and seen probably 12 people working there and no telling how many putting up the walk overs on the beach road is what I'm talking about. When Kevin posted that there were only 4 people working on repairs I could understand why the office said 2-3 weeks to reopen.

Likely the initial assessment included ordering replacement materials and contacting the necessary individuals/companies to do the labor in the correct order (i.e. the repair of the pipes and wiring underneath the panels would likely have to be done first). That's my guess as to why everyone isn't working all at once.

... then why would they not talk to Wade about his (and others) offer to volunteer?

Maybe they don't want to deal with the liability if a volunteer gets hurt?

WE went about 6 months couple years ago without water so I don't think that would be a hold up.

Looking at the condition of the water, what would one catch anyway? Catfish? A nap?

Hope things get settled down and I hope that Nate didn't cause too much of an issue for all of you down there. We got Nate rain up here on Saturday evening/Sunday morning.
