poured a few and painted some recently, now for the tying ....don't have much in them.....and just need a few for up here ....also in the picture are some of shad head jig to use with soft plastic(a mold I recently got for up here) not much of a jig type person in the past but think I will be using more this year, once I find the fish in the fresh water ;)

that powder paint holds up kinda good to those teeth down there....I may use the none salt water hooks I got.... for up here
What do you use for the tails? Do you order it from somewhere?

how much would a mold cost to start makin them??
I pd 27.95 + shipping for the one I got new, but looked and they aren't caring the smaller weight mold,they also had the hooks and some straight hair for it but jigslingers crimped is a little nicer, the hooks I have been getting off ebay for around 10 shipped for 100 ....the lead was free to me....powder paint has been off ebay too, but also some from the shark river outfitters ....J&M might be able to help and order it too.

1st time pouring with bottom spout.
Ready to be nipped and painted - first time with the bottom pour. Excess got a little better as I got my timing down.
2 @ 1/4 and 1/2 oz each

they turned out well, i used clay to shape the desired plastics(ribbontails for bass) i wanted and filled the liquid around the hardened clay. Then you have your mold, then you can start pouring the soft plastic in the mold. I had a lot more experience with hard plastics, top water lures mainly.

finished tying, well really out of painted jig heads, and no more sleeves for the king leaders till the mail comes....I have went to tying bigger jigs for the reds or jacks when they come through or maybe even a cobe..... but this is the wrong time of the year, I think live bait would be the best for that now

Bill , I'm impressed !!! You have out done yourself ! The jigs really look good . Won't be long . Less than two weeks .
It's been fun doing them, and hopefully funner using them, I actually found a few of the first I did that didn't get included in the care package sent south, and these I think are a lot better ....learning anyway...... I cut the hair off the old ones and redid them , changed the nail polish to add some flash and color to the thread..... I hope it makes a difference , if not.... oh well .....I clear nail polish the threads anyway , as long as it doesn't hurt the bite

Looking good Bill! FYI, super glue works good on the thread. The cheap stuff works fine. The main thing to look for is try to find the stuff with the smaller nozzle. A little goes a long way and it soaks in good to seal it.
Even fingernail polish works in a pinch to bind down loosened threads.
But a couple of drops of 5-Minute epoxy helps protect the threads from sharp teeth ;-)

I use both, first the super glue,let dry and then apply the nail polish(with glitter this time) and coat the entire thread area, only one shot doing it, so why take any chances of failure

Nice looking mess of jigs.
I'm looking to tie up some spearhead jigs this winter and was looking to buy some crimped nylon hair from SNL Corp. I have called them for prices which is $18.45 per pound. My question for those of you who have tied these jigs, is how many jigs, lets say 1/2oz can you tie with a pound of this hair?
Lots of Jigs. LOL 1 Lb will go a long way. Also,, as a fly tier I have used Sally Hansen Hard as nails nail polish it gets a little harder and is a little thinner and will penetrate the wrap a little better. Just a suggestion.

Honestly the jigs don't last long enough to go all out with material and certain glues/nail polish....cast once and it can be gone....and multiple times in a row when the spanish are fighting for itQuote:

I believe 8in packs....you have to call them to find pricing and to place order, they are very helpful ....I got both (milk white) & (florescent white) and find myself using more florescent ... both work, it is just a personal preference
I was going to take a picture of the packs....just call them
SNL Corp won't t sell anything less than an 8" stick of crimped nylon hair, which is about 3/4 of a pound. Based on what Ironman has told me that is way more than I'll need. Soooo I'm looking for another source. Anyone know where else I might be able find this hair in lesser quanities? If push comes to shove I'll just buy a pound of white from SNl and try to dye it to the other colors I want.
