People are shocked to see sharks in the water around here.
If you see natural water taste it. If it's salty it has sharks in it. If it's fresh it has alligators in it. If it's brackish it has both.

I would just brush some quick dry epoxy on the threads and let it go at that.

rabidawise, if I may suggest, consider Rod Room. I suggest you bring your rod with you there and get a chance to talk to the owner, Kathy. She's the best rod builder.
