sand spike rod holders

Will be next week or better. I don't have a photo of one and they are in our storage building in Elsanor.

I'll find an excuse to head out there.

FYI, I made my own sand spikes from PVC several years ago, but ended up buying 2 pre-made ones from Walmart the next year after forgetting mine. I was very surprised to discover how much lighter the store-bought spikes were. They are made of thinner plastic, which would be bad for plumbing, but it's good for stuff you are toting around.

another tip - if you can find an old backpack with drink holders and side-tension straps, I have found that those will accommodate a sand spike in each drink holder. The tension/compression straps help hold them in place, and of course your tackle goes in the pack itself. This totally frees your hands to manage the rods. I also use the pack to carry a bait net with a telescopic handle that does a passable job of catching sand fleas.

how far in the sand do you get the angle for the metal rod holder's?? ... needing to know where to put the foot angle to help sink it in the sand (not to high and not to low)

4 1/2' length of 1 1/4" pipe straight cut. Go down where the sand is damp and push in. Not kidding...suck on the end getting suction and the PVC slides right down where you need it. Learned this trick on the dense sands of Texas. Note. If there's a lot of shell it won't work as well.
