Lost Bay has them on the rack when you first walk up to the counter. $2.99 each I think.

Edit: I'm making some with a 3/0 EWG worm hook for some bass guys in 1/2 oz.

It's pretty cut and dry on the pier. Tip with a fiddler crab and suspend around the pilings. I'm going to make some heavier (1-1/4 oz) ones for my late March trip provided the pier is still open. I'm going to use the lighter ones on bottom in the shallows when the sheepies break off the end and start coming to the bar and the pilings in the skinny water. If I have time I'm making some 3/4 oz and tying a teaser on the hook for pompano. I hooked one at Perdido Pass bridge between the pilings fishing on bottom that broke me off. After that I had several bites but didn't lose a jig. Once the current picked up I couldn't get it to stay in place hence the need for a heavier one. I can make 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, 1 and 1-1/4oz. I have a few long shank heavy hooks that I'm going to use with them for fishing Gulp Shrimp for flounder.

I notice online that some come with split rings to fasten the hook. That looks like a good idea for changing hooks, but do they work as well?

People are shocked to see sharks in the water around here.

If you see natural water taste it. If it's salty it has sharks in it. If it's fresh it has alligators in it. If it's brackish it has both.

I'm not sure. I don't see why they wouldn't but the molded-in wire form keeps the hook upright. I saw on a Facebook group where a guy molds his jigs and then opens the eye of the hook and puts them on after painting. I haven't tried that yet since I made enough to just change them out. The hooks I'm using are an off brand that are very sharp. The problem is that the point bends on a sheepshead's teeth and they dull easy. I took pliers and carefully straightened one out and it will still hook a fish.

After shopping a bit (the $4 each jigheads were more than i could stomach) I found 3 and 5-pack prices that bring the price per jig to reasonable (although probably not the quality of custom-made).
