I saw it too and didn’t realize how bad it really was. What areas of the pier are the worst for sharks?
Or it'll get more tourists down there that wanna see the wildlife!
The greatest concentration is wherever mackerel are being caught. This can be on the octi or down the draw. There is a steady presence near the cleaning tables, but not the concentration you get when mackerel are being caught.
They especially love kings as they are easier to take off a line. Spanish* you can skip like a stone over the top of the water, especially if they make a jump to get you started, but kings are going to stay in the water and that makes them shark meat.
*Edit: depending on size, the smaller they are the easier they are to skip, the important thing is to take advantage of a jump and keep them from getting a purchase on the water afterwards.
What kind of sharks are they?
Blacktips and spinners are the most numerous and easy to identify. I have seen some I think were bulls and lemons, but they are hard to identify in the water, especially since I am not very good at identifying them. Lord knows what else.
We usually see some larger predatory (shark eating - tigers, hammerheads, large bulls) sharks later in the year. I think the small sharks attract them.
***Disclaimer that this isn't serious and is quite sad*** but can they just install one of these at the pier?

Sharks aren't bad in the parking lot
Fredric is right. Whenever Spanish and/or Kings show up, so do the Sharks. This is before anyone starts cleaning their catch. I hear a lot of people complaining about the cleaning stations being the draw and although Sharks are opportunistic predators and will grab the fish parts, the Spanih and Kings being hooked are throstle serious problem. I've seen dozens of (mostly blacktop), sharks with the heaviest concentration on the Octi and draw where their favorite meals are being hooked up and become prey.
