any interest in king gaffs?

thinking of making a trip this fall and was wondering if I should make a few gaff's to bring, if there is any interest ....the Bride got a kitchen pass from taking care of her mother's health issues(after 1 year) .....so maybe time for a well needed trip for her http://www.gulfcoastfishingconnectio...isc/giggle.gif ....maybe even get her out on the pier....she used to love fishing up here at one time http://www.gulfcoastfishingconnectio...sc/fishing.gif

Is there any way you could make a 5 prong for me, just as long as the price difference isn't more than about $15-$20, I'd pay for the extra prong, but if it would be much more, than for $65, yes sir, a 4 prong will do it for me, sign me up

mostly stainless....weighs in at 4lb-3oz

I just don't want to commit and not be able to deliver ...there is a list and order who and how they responded and it will be first come first serve....from the list

a couple days + before I return home(month long stay) if any hasn't been picked up they will be for sale to whom ever has the cash.
.even if I have to go fish Navarre or Pensacola a day or two

I do like seeing and knowing something I made is being used for it's intended purpose and the enjoyment people get with them ....they can last a life time

what size stainless rod do you use? I made one out of 1/4in but mine seems a little weak.

yes 1/4 in would be on the weak side, these are almost 3/8in, it is metric stock rod ....what they had at the salvage yard, a truck lost it's load and the salvage yard got it all....and some real nice rod too....was headed for a Honda plant local....they have stuck fish to 40 lbs maybe a little more and could double for a smaller cobia gaff....although for that I prefer them made out of 1/2 stock and longer prong's ....But I think these have stuck a few this past season??

need the rope eyes tig welded, waiting on the new stainless wire brushes to buff them up afterwords....looking good though ....I had to go back into training after 1-1/2 years, but it finally came back to me....darn it sucks getting old
6 of them I put the pencil points on first and made it go quicker....it will be done that way from now on.... if I ever make any more

I think I am going to play with one more and try and make a 5 prong for me....not sure if the pipe for the lead mold will allow it, and really don't care for a 5 prong anyway....seems that second prong could stop a good shot at getting one in the fish,by hitting the gill plate, head area ....it has happened before to me and my ling 5 prong gaff

If this is the only chance, be sure and take it. They are worth it. I had a day on Navarre earlier this year where I let one of the gaffing guys use my ironman gaff -- after that nobody wanted to use anybody else's gaff and they all wanted to know where to get one. I told them the guy who made 'em went out of business....now he's back in, but won't be for long, sounds like.

that is good to know Rich, you never know about me and my time(never was a business just sharing some skills I have and these would have never happened without John g )....

I am glad the Navarre guys like it!!! I may make a trip or 2 over there.....I may check on shipping of these, if it's reasonable and not to much of a hassle for me..... I may start to do more in the future.
